The one, holy, catholic, and Apostolic Orthodox Church is a worldwide communion of over 300 million faithful. They are distributed geographically among fifteen self-governing, autocephalous Churches, all of which are united in faith, theology, tradition, and worship. Each Church has its own geographical (rather than a national) title that generally reflects the cultural traditions of its believers. Every singly Orthodox Christian is regarded as a member of, and welcome to commune in, any and of these local Churches.

In the United States, eight of the sixteen Churches are represented by local jurisdictions that serve the Orthodox faithful. The Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of the United States of America is comprised of all the active, canonical Orthodox bishops of every jurisdiction. The purpose of the Assembly of Bishops is to preserve and contribute to the unity of the Orthodox Church by helping to further Her spiritual, theological, ecclesiological, canonical, educational, missionary and philanthropic aims.

There are Twenty-Eight Orthodox Parishes in Colorado

All are welcome in the Orthodox Church! Throughout history, the Orthodox Church has very naturally formed “Churches” in each nation. This reflects the great Commission of Jesus Christ, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations” (Matthew 28:19).

Christianity arrived America through immigration. Orthodox Christianity is no exception and, in many ways, it still reflects the diversity of peoples that came to America and made our nation great. This is reflected in the jurisdictions comprising the Assembly of Bishops (see above) as well as in their constituent parishes. Despite some small variations in “flavor,” the Orthodox jurisdictions and parishes are part of the one Orthodox Church and are in complete communion with one another. Orthodox parishes welcome all people, and the congregations in our Orthodox parishes are made up of “just regular Americans,” and increasingly include many converts.
